Therapy for real life · Arizona telehealth

You don’t have to keep holding it all together.

Here, you can set down the performance, say the thing you’ve been editing, and make room for what’s actually true. I offer warm, direct counseling for the tender, tangled, very human parts of being alive.

✦Warmth without fluff✦Honesty without judgment✦Space to be fully human

A grounded place to land

Less fixing.
More unfolding.

Maybe you’re capable, thoughtful, and exhausted. Maybe life changed before you were ready. Maybe an old survival strategy is now taking up more room than it gives back.

Therapy with me isn’t about polishing yourself into someone more acceptable. It’s a collaborative place to understand what shaped you, build steadier ways of responding, and reconnect with the parts of you that got quiet along the way.

I’ll meet you with warmth and curiosity—and I won’t be afraid to be direct when direct is useful.

Areas of focus

What we can make
room for.

You don’t need the perfect label or a tidy explanation to begin.

01

Trauma

Support for experiences that still live in your body, your relationships, or the way you move through the world.

02

Perinatal transitions

Space for the identity shifts, anxiety, grief, overwhelm, and complexity that can come with pregnancy and early parenthood.

03

Grief & loss

A place for what changed, what ended, and what doesn’t fit into anyone else’s timeline for “moving on.”

04

Anxiety

For the overthinking, bracing, second-guessing, and pressure that make it hard to feel present in your own life.

“You are allowed to take up space in your own life.”

What therapy feels like

Human first.
Always.

  • CollaborativeYou know your life. I bring training, perspective, and questions. We work together.
  • HonestNo clinical performance required—from either of us. We can name what’s actually happening.
  • At your paceWe won’t force what isn’t ready. We also won’t confuse comfort with being stuck.
  • Practical and deepInsight matters. So do tools you can use when Tuesday afternoon gets hard.
Jessica Van Leer, Licensed Professional Counselor

Meet Jessica

I’m Jessica Van Leer, LPC.

I’m a counselor who believes you deserve a space where you don’t have to shrink, smooth the edges, or explain away what you feel.

My work is grounded in the understanding that our responses make sense in context. Together, we can get curious about those patterns without letting them run the whole show. I bring a trauma-aware lens, a steady presence, and room for both tenderness and humor.

Good questions

A few things
you may be wondering.

How do I know if we’re a good fit?+

A consultation is a low-pressure place to ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and get a feel for how I work. If it doesn’t feel right, that’s useful information too.

Do you offer in-person sessions?+

I currently offer telehealth sessions only for clients located in Arizona. Virtual therapy gives you the flexibility to meet from a private, comfortable space without adding a commute or waiting room to your day.

What are your fees? Do you accept insurance?+

My fee is $175 per session. I accept many major insurance plans, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna/Evernorth, UnitedHealthcare, Optum, TRICARE, TriWest, ComPsych, First Health, Lyra, and Spring Health. Because coverage varies by plan, I recommend confirming your benefits before beginning therapy. For clients using out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill to assist with possible reimbursement.

What happens in the first session?+

We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you hope might change, and what would help you feel comfortable in the work. You don’t have to tell your whole story at once.

Is telehealth private?+

Yes. I conduct sessions from a private, secure office and use SimplePractice, a secure electronic health record and telehealth platform. I encourage you to join sessions from a private space where you feel comfortable speaking openly.
